Okay, so I haven’t really posted anything but chapters for a while now, but I just wanted to talk about a few things. Mainly, something that just recently happened: Coiling Dragon has been completely translated!
As far as I know, this is the first xianxia web-novel to be totally translated into English. At least, it’s the only one that I’ve ever heard of being completely translated lol.
If you want to complain about the ending of CD, go ahead and do it in the comments, because ‘personally’ I was really annoyed by it. Sure, I wasn’t exactly expecting much, since IET generally tries to skip through anything that isn’t related to training and battles, but at the end, I was still a little surprised. My exact thoughts were “Really? Is that really it? 804 chapters, and that’s how you want to end everything?” Well, I won’t say exactly how it ends, but if you go down to the comments, they’ll probably be filled with spoilers rofl.
However, regardless of all that nonsense, I honestly want to thank Ren for not just fully translating one of my favorite Xianxia so far, but also starting up the whole ‘Translated Webnovel’ nonsense! Sure, he wasn’t the first person to ever translate a webnovel, but if it wasn’t for Ren, the standards would be so much lower than they are right now.
Hell, do you think I would have been able to write nearly 300 chapters in 5 months, if it wasn’t for the outrageous translators out there? I basically copied the Chinese Webnovel style when I started writing “Hardcore OP-ness”, which is to stay around 1500 words on average and just keep pumping out chapters every single day.
Recently I’ve been burnt out pretty badly and can only write/post 1 per day, but hopefully, I’ll be able to get back up over 2 per day again soon. However, I’ve written more in the first 4 months of HCOP, than I did over the 10 months I was writing “Immortal Soul” for: That’s including “Questing” btw. Both of those stories are unfinished, but the total word-count is around 350k+. “Hardcore OP-ness” is well over 400k and has 277 written chapters at the moment.
Anyway, even though “Coiling Dragon” has been totally translated and I did finish reading it, I’ve decided to keep it permanently on the “Stories That I Follow” page.
I’m sure that very few of you noticed, but I just added a few new Xianxia to the list, though I have been following these for quite some time now.
“Earth-Shattering Martial Arts” is pretty awesome, and probably one of my current favorites.
“Heavenly Jewel Change” is interesting, but kinda slow-paced; it’s written by the same author who wrote “Doulou Dalu” and “Divine Throne“, so if you like those stories, it’s very similar in many ways :).
“Unparalleled Under the Sky” is a VRMMORPG story, which is pretty cool so far, but the TL speed is relatively slow. Supposedly, it has thousands of chapters?
I haven’t done this in a while, but I’d like to thank all of my Donors and Pledges! You are the reason that I can keep writing every day 🙂
There have been a lot of new stories being translated and written lately(As there always are), but I haven’t really had time to check them all out, for obvious reasons lol. Thus, if anyone has a story they would like to recommend, go ahead and put it in the comments of this post or my “Stories That I Follow” page; remember, regardless of how many comments a post or page has, I get emails whenever someone says anything, so don’t withhold your comment, because you think that I won’t even see it :P.
Also, you can recommend TV shows, Movies, Manga, pretty much anything… as long as it won’t cost me money to read or watch lol. If you wanna recommend a video-game, that’s fine too :). As long as a game goes on sale for a really cheap price on Steam or is in a Humble Bundle, I might be willing to buy it :P.
If you’re interested, I’ve got a few on my homepage that you might not know of. Just click on my username to get to the page. If you find one you’ve not read, then all the better.

I am looking for a light novel I started reading a few months back…kind of forgot to bookmark it…
A story about a guy who comes back after 8 years from another world…to find out that his world and another separate world connected at the same time he disappeared…for them it was 2 years…his parents divorced and his siblings blame him for it…etc… I just read the first few chapters at the time…
Can someone help me?

Oh, and in the other world, he was helped by the Demon King himself (They made a kind of show where the Demon King gets wounded by an assassin – the Protagonist – and goes into the Demon King’s Vault where there is a portal)

Well, supposedly IET’s other works take place in Linmeng’s and the other dude’s little bubbles.
So I guess they are some kind of sequels.
Stellar Transformations starts off amazing but dwindles… egh. Hopefully it picks back up

ST started off really slow imo, I like it better now, though there are way too many chapters where practically nothing happens lol.

Ah, well I have to agree with what you say about how ST begins.
It just so happens I prefer stories told slowly, whatever format they are in. I like to savor events, rather than devour them and be hungry at the end! ^^
Fun stuff

Depends on the situation, I think stories should start out fast and slow down later on.

The exact opposite of what happened to Coiling Dragon then eh? Haha

I think IET just got tired of writing Coiling Dragon and decided to end it and start working on something else lol

I think Swallowed Star is probably my favorite, though it doesn’t get translated very quickly :(. I wonder if it takes place in the ‘bioform’ universe that he was talking about?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Haven’t read it, but if it has to do with Genetics, it’s bioform.
ST is in the ‘main’ cosmos, at least.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Ah, then which one is the ‘main’ one?

Main has a combination of the four others.
Laws + Bioform + Science + Devil/Immortal

Heh…
Laws = Protoss
Bioform = Zerg
Science = Terran
Devil/Immortal = Xel’naga
… Found out where StarCraft happens. Linmeng’s idle fantasies.

Wait, ascends to where? The Divine realm? I definitely haven’t seen any kittens… Unless you mean that AI in his old house? I guess that could be considered machine intelligence, huh? lol It’s been so long that I totally forgot…

Yeah, that AI and the spaceship both represent the science universe

Like Coiling Dragon, Stellar Transformation suffer from the same problem. The author start the story in an original plane/world. Which is amazing, with world conquest, dragon and other type of mystical beasts. The characters are well presented with personality and backstories. That original world is well thought, with rich details, and a logical system in place. But the moment the story take a turn toward the cosmos/universe, it turns to shit. The author is probably overwhelm by the complexity of his own creation at that point, and he is completely lost.

My favorite part of Coiling Dragon was towards the end, when Linley finally became a Paragon and then became a super-OP Sovereign… Unfortunately, IET rushed the ending. Imo, Linley should have needed to train until he reached the Paragon level in all four elements, and simply touching a damn Fire Sovereign spark shouldn’t have instantly made him invincible lol. Not to mention that he spent like… 10k years making that damn fusion divine plane, and no one ever even saw it! lol Ugh, there was just so much stuff that went completely unfinished.

Ok. I know it’s true that’s still annoying and he could do a little more but Linley had become to much op. D:

I hated the ending of CD too it was building to a conclusion pretty well then suddenly chapter 804 spouted a bunch of crazy nonsense and stopped. It reminded me of when mangas rushe their endings because they are being axed. A sad end for an amazing novel

Yeah, it was fine? Like, I was fine with that whole ridiculous ending, but the very end was annoying. I wanted to see an awesome reunion with Bebe, his mother/father, beirut and everyone else. I mean, that would have been so much more satisfying lol.

I hate the fact that bebe was secondary to the end of the story, they were always “equal” in strength but boom! mutation op, then more and more op, and bebe nothing. 😦

Lmfao, yep, IET basically just left Bebe behind and forgot about him by the end
LikeLiked by 1 person
Basically, IET tried to make Bebe into one of those character from Jin Yong stories who don’t like to train, are super lazy, but get on by shear luck. Like Wei Xiaobao from “The Deer and the Cauldron”, or Duan Yu from “Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils”. But then the author got lazy himself and shove Bebe character to the side line.

IET is bad with interpersonal relations… and conversations lol. I like his work, he just kinda skips my favorite parts of stories rofl. I mean, most shows and stories focus way way way~ too much on interpersonal bullshit and annoying, petty relationship issues, but if you completely leave them out of a story, it’s just as bad lol. Also, I think the last line of the last chapter of CD was “….” literally just “….” in quotation marks lol because IET didn’t feel like writing the whole scene with Linley and his family reuniting :(. I really makes me want to write a “Fanfiction” ending for CD, where Linley and his family just reunite, talk for a bit, settle some nonsense, etcetera… but I don’t really have time :(.
