TDoDK Chapter 3, Day 9d: Equipment

/Identify

[Nekoneko Brand Cellphone: Has a small touch-screen, dust and water resistant, can charge wirelessly, thirty-two gigabyte solid-state hard drive, two cameras… This device is capable of connecting to the Kitsune Drive, would you like to register it as your secondary Kitsune Drive Interface? Type ‘/Yes’ or ‘/No’.]

Holy crap! Yes, very much yes! Oh, umm… Almost thought I was talking to a person for a second there. Sigh~, it’s been so long since I had an actual conversation that I got a little nervous.

/Yes

[Uploading Program Files… Syncing… Transferring User Data… Primary and Secondary Kitsune Drive Devices have been successfully set.]

Wow, I’m actually writing in my diary on my phone right now and the words are showing up on my tablet too. It’s pretty impressive, considering I have no wi-fi at the moment and I can’t access any sort of internet. I wonder how it really works?

Hmmm, I’m gonna try scanning my other stuff now. Maybe I’ll get lucky again?

/Identify

[Combat Knife: A large carbon-steel knife, used for hunting and warfare. Has a curved and extremely sharp edge one side and a flat, serrated blade on the other. Black rubber grip with a small guard.]

[The Quest “Unlocking Items” has been successfully completed. +1 KP. +1 Exp.]

“Although it would be an excellent form of training to force you to create all of the tools and other items you wish to use… Well, I decided to lower the difficulty a bit, after the first batch of applicants failed to survive the original Kitsune Training Program. Now the Kitsune Drive is capable of scanning, identifying and replicating most ‘simple’ items. As for the more complicated devices, you will only be able to fix them with the Repair feature when it becomes available. However, if you happen to lose, damage or destroy one of your Kitsune Drive Interfacing Devices, a new one will be fabricated within twenty-four hours. The first time will be free, but each subsequent event will cost a Kitsune Point, so I suggest that you be very careful in your adventures.”

[+1 KP for discovering a new purchasable piece of Equipment. Combat Knife has been unlocked.]

Awesome! At least I think it’s great, as long as the prices aren’t too ridiculous…

/OpenShop

[Opening Shop… Please choose a Tab: Consumables, Equipment, Shelter or Earth.]

/Equipment

[1 Liter Flask: 1 KP.]

[Combat Knife: A large carbon-steel knife, used for hunting and warfare. Has a curved and extremely sharp edge one side and a flat, serrated blade on the other. Black rubber grip with a small guard. 2 KP.]

I can’t really tell if that’s a lot, or not much. In the corner of my screen there’s this little icon that says “KP: 15. EP: 2.” Not very hard to figure out, but yeah, that’s how many Kitsune Points and Evolution Points I have at the moment.

/Identify

[Combat Shovel: A medium-sized carbon-steel shovel-head, with an unfoldable black, aluminum shaft. It has two grips made out of black rubber.]

[+1 KP for discovering a new purchasable piece of Equipment. Combat Shovel has been unlocked.]

Yes! I can’t believe I was freaking out so much over being able to find random animals and plants, when all I needed to do was just scan all my stuff! Ugh, well, everything happens for a reason… or at least that’s what Azra always used to tell me.

/Identify

[Simple Compass: Small black metal air-filled compass, which can be attached to a keychain.]

[+1 KP for discovering a new purchasable piece of Equipment. Compass has been unlocked.]

/Identify

[Firesteel: A black ferrocerium rod and a piece of carbon steel attached to each other by a black rope. Can be used in rain and snow to start fires using the incredibly hot sparks.]

[+1 KP for discovering a new purchasable piece of Equipment. Firesteel has been unlocked.]

/Identify

[Camping Backpack: A black heavy-duty waterproof backpack, designed for camping, hiking and even military use. Has six outside pockets and a decent amount of space inside.]

[+1 KP for discovering a new purchasable piece of Equipment. Camping Backpack has been unlocked.]

I honestly had no idea that it was waterproof, but that’s really good to know.

/Identify

[Thermos: Compact stainless-steel vacuum flask, capable of holding up to .75 liters of liquid. Able to significantly extend the length of time that a beverage can remain hot or cold.]

[+1 KP for discovering a new purchasable piece of Equipment. Thermos has been unlocked.]

/Identify

[64 ounce plastic mug.]

Aww~, no fair~… Well, I kinda assumed that not ‘everything’ would be counted. I’m guessing that it only counts things that are generally important for survival. A mug is convenient, but not really worth a Kitsune Point.

/Identify

[Cooler Bag: Able to keep items cool or hot for a significant amount of time. Has a long, adjustable strap for convenience. Also has a black rubber handle, connected to straps. Waterproof, zippered, rectangular, blue, can hold 5 gallons of liquid. Has three outside pockets.]

[+1 KP for discovering a new purchasable piece of Equipment. Cooler Bag has been unlocked.]

Another victory! I actually do feel like I’m winning at life right now… It’s almost enough to make me forget about how much my body hurts. Geez, those stupid lizards keep croaking and groaning constantly. It’s really making my headache a lot worse. Will I have to deal with this from now on? Well, I guess they probably won’t be mating all the time.

/Identify

[Beach Towel.]

It’s almost like I can feel how much the Kitsune Drive doesn’t care about my dirty towel.

/Identify

[Sleeveless Shirt: An extra-large white upper-body garment. Covers very little skin and is made out of a material that is not very durable.]

Another miss… Ugh, if I knew that something crazy like this was going to happen to me, I would have packed all kinds of awesome stuff. I guess it’s finally time for the moment of truth, huh?

/Identify

[LED Flashlight: An electrical illumination device with several power-level settings. Made from lightweight and extremely durable machined stainless steel. Can be focused or unfocused. Six inches long and two inches wide. Requires two AA batteries.]

[+1 KP for discovering a new purchasable piece of Equipment. LED Flashlight has been unlocked.]

Hahaha~! I’m up to twenty-two Kitsune Points! Maybe I should try to get that ‘Better Fat’ upgrade? It might make me not have to eat as much… On the other hand, if I bought a bunch of water, I could definitely grow crops way more easily.

Ah! I just got an awesome idea!

/Identify

[AA Battery: A small, silver, single cell cylindrical dry battery, capable of powering various electronic devices.]

[+1 KP for discovering a new purchasable piece of Equipment. AA Battery has been unlocked.]

I guess it’s all down to this now, huh? My last real ‘item’ that hasn’t been scanned yet… Well, aside from the tablet, but I basically know that it won’t work already.

/Identify

[Solar Charger: A small device designed to charge batteries.]

Crap…
