The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 19: Plague

By the time they got dressed and went out to check on the situation, a ‘big crowd’ of a couple dozen people were gathered in front of a green brick house. It was right next to Verna’s place. The Herbalist Shop.

“Uncle Grun, what’s wrong? Is Myrtle okay?”

The tall and muscular man looked down at Oliver with a frown, “Myrl… Well, see for yourself.”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 5: Peridot

“Thanks for helping me out today, Peri.”

“I’m just worried about you, Ollie.” The tall blonde-haired, green eyed girl pouted, “I always knew the company was scummy, but I never thought they’d do something this evil.”

“I’m not surprised.” Oliver looked at his living room that had a few holes in the walls and floor that still needed to be fixed. At least all the blood and mud was cleaned up though. That crossbow and the bolts were given to Forest as an early birthday present.

“I just didn’t think Jessie and the others would wanna kill me… What the hell did I ever do to them, anyway?”

“They’re just jealous. Obviously.” Peridot sneered, “Jealousy can make people do crazy things…”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 17: Thief

“You’re the little thief! You were pissed off yesterday and even threatened me! So you came back later and robbed our vault!”

“I didn’t rob shit! Lying thief! Give me back my money and jewelry!”

A gas mask appeared on Oliver’s furious face, followed by a metal hard-hat on his head. The man with the crossbow pulled the trigger immediately and the bolt bounced off the helmet, ricocheting over into the wall. Then the other man rushed over with a shortsword!

“You’re trying to murder me?!”

“No, no I didn’t! Don’t lie! You’re the one that started using magic first!”

“Shut up, you dumbass!” Jessie went inside the house and closed, then locked the door behind her, preventing some of the anxious people outside from interfering.

Kresvalia Continent, The Cursed Words

I casually doodled a general outline of the Continent of Kresvalia… Yes, it does look similar to Australia. Yes, it is located in a similar corner of the ‘Earth’ as Australia. But obviously it’s not really Australia. Most of the story thus far takes place in the tiny eastern corner of the continent, so there’s no real reason to go into great detail about everywhere else. Honestly, this is the first time in a long time that I drew up one of my half-assed maps… But a map really doesn’t need to be so fancy, right?

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 16: Night

“Damn it!”

*Thud!*

“Mmmn! Shit!”

*Thump-thump-thump!*

“ Aaaah!”

*Paaah~!*

When he finally got home and finished a long bath, Oliver was still furious. So he set up the heavy green sandbag in the living room and started wailing on it with all his strength. Eventually he got completely exhausted and ate dinner, before heading back to bed with an upset stomach and covered in sweat. He didn’t even have the energy to think about the fact that the statue on the right side of the bed was laying on her left side.

“Goodnight, Sis…” He laid down on his left side, then the right, unable to find a comfortable position. Eventually he ended up sleeping on his back.

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 15: Work

“Hah~! Hahahah~! Yes! I win!”

When Oliver woke up the next day, he turned over and found that Marble Mother was nowhere to be found! Even Stone Sister was still laying face-down and in the same exact position as before. Except for the slightly longer little black hairs, it was just a normal statue.

“Don’t worry, Sis. That crazy woman is gone now. You’re safe.” He patted the ‘girl’ on her cold hard back and got out of bed. Rested and excited to go work in the mines again!

“Verna’s parents won’t make another trip back to Kale Town until next week though. We’ll probably never see your Marble Mommy again. By the way, why was that specific statue so damn haunted? All the others didn’t move around nearly as much.”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 14: Verde Trading House

“I’m only Rank 3 though…”

“Oliver, Baby, Word Changes can happen at any time, for any reason. Hmmm~! I just don’t know what change would cause a Miner to be able to move statues with their mind? Either way, I’m not paying you anything extra for haunted statues. If you want to sell them for a higher price, then you can go rent a carriage and travel to Kale Town yourself! Hmph~!”

“So you just don’t wanna pay more after all!”

“Who would ‘want’ to pay more money for anything?”

“Mama, don’t bully Ollie~!”

“Hyahahaha~! You two are so cute~!”

“Come on, Ollie! Ignore her! I’ll show you some of the stuff we bought this time!”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 13: The Deal

“Ah! Shit! How the hell did you escape?!”

Oliver opened his eyes to that angry face again in the morning, with a marble finger tip almost touching the back of that bald gray head…

“Wait, I’m definitely not hallucinating! You’re not bald anymore!”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 12: Gold Panning

Even though they laughed it off, both of them were actually really nervous and cautious. Oliver went to all his friends and even warned their parents directly, trying to make sure that none of them told anyone outside the village. Emerald, who was technically the current Village Chief, directly ordered that no one was allowed to go outside the walls until the caravan arrived. She also made sure the guards kept a close eye on the carrier pigeons. They also started preparing for the worst, organizing the hunters and miners into a militia to help the handful of guards keep a proper watch over the walls.

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 11: Stone Sister

Even though they said they didn’t want to get paid, Oliver still forced each of the kids to pick their favorite sculpture and gave it to them as a gift. Whether they kept it in their house as a collection or sold it to Verna’s parents later was up to them. Though it’s more likely that their parents would decide on those kinds of financial decisions involving dozens to hundreds of gold coins.

“Phew~! Good morning, Stone Sister~! Morning Marble Mother!”
