The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 14: Verde Trading House

“I’m only Rank 3 though…”

“Oliver, Baby, Word Changes can happen at any time, for any reason. Hmmm~! I just don’t know what change would cause a Miner to be able to move statues with their mind? Either way, I’m not paying you anything extra for haunted statues. If you want to sell them for a higher price, then you can go rent a carriage and travel to Kale Town yourself! Hmph~!”

“So you just don’t wanna pay more after all!”

“Who would ‘want’ to pay more money for anything?”

“Mama, don’t bully Ollie~!”

“Hyahahaha~! You two are so cute~!”

“Come on, Ollie! Ignore her! I’ll show you some of the stuff we bought this time!”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 13: The Deal

“Ah! Shit! How the hell did you escape?!”

Oliver opened his eyes to that angry face again in the morning, with a marble finger tip almost touching the back of that bald gray head…

“Wait, I’m definitely not hallucinating! You’re not bald anymore!”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 12: Gold Panning

Even though they laughed it off, both of them were actually really nervous and cautious. Oliver went to all his friends and even warned their parents directly, trying to make sure that none of them told anyone outside the village. Emerald, who was technically the current Village Chief, directly ordered that no one was allowed to go outside the walls until the caravan arrived. She also made sure the guards kept a close eye on the carrier pigeons. They also started preparing for the worst, organizing the hunters and miners into a militia to help the handful of guards keep a proper watch over the walls.

Even though they said they didn’t want to get paid, Oliver still forced each of the kids to pick their favorite sculpture and gave it to them as a gift. Whether they kept it in their house as a collection or sold it to Verna’s parents later was up to them. Though it’s more likely that their parents would decide on those kinds of financial decisions involving dozens to hundreds of gold coins.

“Phew~! Good morning, Stone Sister~! Morning Marble Mother!”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 10: Treasure

Oliver spent the rest of the day carefully removing dozens of statues, statuettes, busts and figurines out of the basement. Along with a big yellow crystal, which was the most challenging to remove. It looked like hundreds of random rectangular, cubic and cylindrical shapes fused into a singular crystalline structure. At the core, there was a reddish-brown stone. It weighed hundreds of kilos and burned his skin even through the leather gloves.

“Ow… Damn it. Mmmmn…”

After dissipating his gloves, he blew on his scalded hands a few times, but it really didn’t make much of a difference. Grun came back with a large wheelbarrow shortly after Denver was turned into charcoal and buried by Klein nearby. He didn’t stick around to help haul Oliver’s ‘treasures’ though. So the short boy was once again alone in the wilderness.

“Hot… So hot…”

“Hmmm?”

Oliver looked around cautiously. He ignored the pain in his right hand and pulled out a short single-sided pick from thin air. He crouched down and listened closely.

“It burns… I’m sorry… Please… No…”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 9: Denver

“Ah!”

Oliver shouted as he felt a sharp prick in his left shoulder blade! He looked back and saw a tall, pot-bellied man with a balding head, a shaggy beard and a cataract covering his left pupil. The right iris was green though. He had a few boils on his face, neck and arms that were exposed by his green t-shirt. His pants were green/brown camouflage.

“Uncle… Uncle Denver?!”

“Huh? Ah! Ollie?! Where did you come from?!”

“You shot me!”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 8: Conjuration

“Don’t worry, Brat. They’ll be fine. Kale Town is only a day’s walk from here, not to mention riding on a carriage. Besides, the Greenstone Mining Company caravans have plenty of guards. Verna’s parents even hired a genuine ‘Bodyguard’ to protect her…”

“I know. I just feel like I should’ve gone with them, just in case.”

“Hahaha~! And you said you hadn’t found anyone you were interested in yet!”

“Shut up!” Oliver glared up at the man and then ran off into the woods, “Damn it! I’m gonna be taller than you when I grow up!”

“The greatest Miner in Kresvalia was a Dwarf!”

“Screw you! Tall Bastard! I’m not a Dwarf! I’ll never be a Dwarf!”

“Hahahahaha~!”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 7: College

“Orna, good morning!”

“Morning, Ollie! Do you want me to help you with your homework again?”

“Uh, no, I don’t go to school anymore. It’s pointless…” The boy saw the little girl getting upset so he quickly waved his hands, “Well, pointless for me. It makes total sense for you! Ah, by the way… That’s what I wanted to talk to you about.”

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 6: III

“Klein! I missed you so much~!”

“I missed you too, Emy~!”

The moment they reached the entrance of the village, Klein let go of the top half of the heavy statue he was carrying. Rushing over to hug and kiss his girlfriend. If Oliver wasn’t also weighed down by a heavy backpack and a bunch of other bags, he probably would’ve been lifted up into the air by the weight.

The Cursed Words, V1, Chapter 5: Money

“The quality of these sculptures is pretty damn impressive. Especially this angry woman… So much ‘detail’, hahaha~!”

Klein used a wet towel to wipe off all the moss and reveal the white marble statue in its entirety. Just like many famous sculptures, the woman was completely naked.
