PS V1, Chapter 33: Fusion

[Summoner: Matthew Leblanc
ID Code: Trashmob-707
Rank: Unranked
Level: 6
Experience: 3/10
Mana: 6/6
Cards: 44
Description: A Player with zero skill, but a decent amount of luck. The kind of Summoner who makes other Players want to go out of their way to kill him.]

“Okay, so now I have way too many cards… Especially Trash and Common ones. Most of them aren’t even worth the Mana cost compared to the Uncommons and Rares.” Matt murmured to himself.

[Indeed, I would suggest that you begin Fusing them now. Before you shuffle the deck.]

“That’s exactly what I was planning.”

He chose Arcana’s Games as his sixth card pack, but didn’t immediately open it. Since he would lose a chance to shuffle the deck. After looking through his Trash cards, he picked out the Basic Pineapple Grenades and Basic Stick Grenades. They were very similar, so he decided to fuse them together first.

[Item: Basic Pineapple Grenades
Type: Consumables
Rarity: Common
Mana Cost: 5
Description: Summons 4 to 10 pineapple grenades. These fragmentation grenades are fairly dangerous, even to the wielders. They have cast-iron shells, which easily shatter into many pieces once the explosive inside is triggered. Although they are typically thrown, they can also be used as simple mines or booby traps.]

The only real difference was the amount of grenades he could Summon. After that, Matt held the Simple Semi-Automatic Pistol, Hunting Shotgun, Simple SMG and Riot Shotgun cards in his hand at once.

[Item: Simple Semi-Automatic Pistols
Type: Equipment
Rarity: Common
Mana Cost: 4
Description: Summons 3 to 5 Simple Semi-Automatic Pistols. These weapons will conform to the dimensions of the intended operators. Thus, the caliber, length of the barrel and other key features will vary greatly. The shape and design of the gun is not fixed, so there will be many variables. The removable magazines will be able to hold 5 to 13 rounds. Ammo is not provided.]

[Item: Riot Shotguns
Type: Equipment
Rarity: Common
Mana Cost: 5
Description: Summons 2 to 4 pump-action shotguns meant for combat. These weapons will conform to the dimensions of the intended operators. Thus, the caliber, length of the barrel and other key features will vary greatly. The stock and pump are made from polished wood, while the metal parts are mostly carbon-steel. The internal tubular magazines will be able to hold 3 to 5 rounds. Ammo is not provided.]

“Not bad…” Matt sighed as he stared at the last three Trash cards in his collection. Then he muttered “Maybe I should wait until I open my next pack? There will definitely be more shitty cards later…”

However, his gambling spirit was ignited at the prospect of that 50% chance to gain a second Common card. He bit his lower lip, as he grabbed the Plain White T-Shirt and Black Boxers, Copper Coins and AP Pistol Rounds, fusing them together.

“Yes! Hahaha~!” His gambit payed off, though he wasn’t particularly impressed by the actual cards he received.

[Item: Enchanted Plain White T-Shirt and Black Boxers
Type: Equipment
Rarity: Common
Mana Cost: 1
Description: Summons a magical plain white t-shirt and a pair of enchanted black boxers. They will always fit the designated wearer and will provide resistance against magical attacks. Great for fighting against ghosts or other ethereal beings.]

[Item: Copper Coins
Type: Consumables
Rarity: Common
Mana Cost: 2
Description: Summons 100 to 200 copper coins from the Qing Republic. 100 copper coins are equivalent in value to 1 silver coin on the planet Genesis. Although the seal of the Qing Republic is placed on these particular coins, they can still be used throughout the entire Continent of Xian Dao. Made from pure copper, without any enchantments or magical seals.]

“Is it just me, or does it seem like the fusion results are usually just an upgraded version of one of the cards I used?” Matt asked, as he thumbed through the 21 Common cards in his collection. Unlike the Trash cards, all of the Common ones were fairly useful. Thus, he was having a harder time deciding which ones he was willing to sacrifice.

[That is true. The odds of creating a card that is not related to the fused cards is fairly low. Unless you happen to have Fusion related cards, which are made to either improve your chances to fuse or add various effects to cards.]

“Wait what? There are cards that can do that kinda shit?”

[They are usually single-use cards. You are currently Unranked. Thus, the cards you have been receiving from packs have been limited. You will receive them quite often when you become Ranked.]

“Seems like I really need to stop procrastinating and become Ranked soon, huh…” He snickered and selected the next three cards to fuse.

While the addition of each Trash card would increase the chance by 50%, it was only 37.5% for Common cards… Which meant that after the original 75%, it would jump to 112.5% with three cards, but adding another card would only raise the chances to 150%. It simply wasn’t worth the risk in his current situation.

His choice for the first sacrifice were three Creature cards: Angry Pigeons, Bronze Clockwork Golems and Mechanical Spiderlings. As he closed his eyes and held the cards together in his hands, he chanted “Please don’t be pigeons, please don’t be pigeons, please don’t be pigeons…”

[Creature: Mutated Pigeons
Type: Monsters
Rarity: Uncommon
Mana Cost: 1
Description: Summons 5 to 10 pigeons that have been genetically modified to become biological weapons. The pigeons will carry many diseases that are harmful to most ordinary animals. They will attempt to kill and devour any living organisms that they encounter. Their corpses will persist through death.]

“Oh you’ve gotta be fucking kidding me!” Matt shouted unconsciously, then let out a long sigh and moved onto his next choices: Simple Pistol Rounds, Magnum Pistol Rounds and Simple SMG Rounds.

[Item: Magnum Pistol Rounds
Type: Consumables
Rarity: Uncommon
Mana Cost: 3
Description: Summons 20 to 60 simple pistol cartridges. Some of the rounds may be defective, while others might have pristine quality. Some of the bullets will have cupronickel jackets, while most of them will be solid lead. All of the FMJ bullets will have soft lead cores. These cartridges will have significantly more gunpowder than Simple Pistol Rounds, which makes them more powerful and dangerous. The size and caliber of the cartridges will change depending on the pistols that are in play.]

“Phew~, that was close.” He was desperately hoping that it didn’t turn out to be SMG Rounds, because he no longer had a SMG card to play. He also had multiple types of pistols he could use.

When he was about to fuse the Steel Katana Collection, Ironwood Recurve Bows and Ironwood Arrows, Providence gave him a suggestion.

[You should not risk losing any of those cards. For the time being, you have no other melee weapons. Also, if you end up with either a bow or arrows, you will lack the other piece of Equipment necessary to utilize them. Of course, once you become Ranked, you will also lack the ability to keep the three of them in the same deck anyway. However, I would suggest that you wait until later to decide what to do with them, since they are each fairly useful.]

Matthew frowned, but ultimately listened to the System’s advice. Then he shuffled his deck and drew five cards.

[Summoner: Matthew Leblanc
ID Code: Trashmob-707
Rank: Unranked
Level: 6
Experience: 3/10
Mana: 6/6
Cards: 37
Description: A Player with zero skill, but a decent amount of luck. The kind of Summoner who makes other Players want to go out of their way to kill him.]

Aside from his own card, there were four others: Enchanted Plain White T-Shirt and Black Boxers, Water Qi Crystals, Minor Qi Infusion and Mutated Pigeons.

“Hmmm, seems like I can actually use most of these.” Matthew was tired, but since he had full Mana, he decided to wake up and use it before going back to sleep…
