CC Chapter 1, Part 7: Slavery

Joseph snickered, “You can keep one slave or pet, but if you want more than that, then you’ll need to reach Rank-F.”

Iris frowned, muttering “Fucking disgusting…” as she watched the little blonde-haired girl struggling to pull that wheelbarrow with nothing but the skin on her back. Not only that, but it was obvious that the child had been brutally tortured and abused in various other ways many times.

“Hehehe~, what, do you like that slave or something? When you get a bit stronger, challenge Tony to a duel… But it’s going to be difficult to get him to bet Little Tori. It’s been like twenty or thirty years since he bought her from the Slave Pens. He’s invested at least a hundred Souls to keep her so young. Aside from that, I’m pretty sure that she’s his daughter…”

In Hell, things aren’t always the way they seem. In order to avoid fighting in the arena, a lot of the slaves agree to work for a gladiator as a servant. They would be able to have a lot more freedom and a better quality of life, assuming that they weren’t too unlucky. If the gladiator ran out of Souls and died or lost in the arena, then their servant would be sent back to wherever they were originally from. The gladiator could also release the slave and the same thing would happen.

After letting out a long sigh, Iris grumbled “I still wanna kill that fucker regardless.”

The ogre chuckled, patting her on the back and sending her flying into the room. Then he yelled “That’s the spirit! But you should really wait until you’re stronger or have some Souls saved up first! Anyway, once you get all the stuff you need from the General Store, you should head over to the Fighting Pits.”

Once he left, the stone door slid closed automatically. Then Iris was alone in her new home. She grimaced in pain from the second giant handprint on her back, but then she smiled slightly as she stood up and looked around.

Although to Joseph, her ‘apartment’ would be considered far too small to ever be comfortable, she wasn’t a three-meter tall giant. There was a small, empty room, with stone floors and a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling. However, there was also a bathroom in the back, which had a shower, sink and a toilet. They weren’t particularly impressive, but it was a thousand times better than the latrines in the Slave Pens.

Aside from that, there was also a bedroom, which had a walk-in closet. There was a bedframe and a wooden dresser, but no mattress. Iris walked around and was surprised at how clean the place was. There was no dust, cockroaches, mice or even any bloodstains. Just solid grey stone floors, walls and ceiling.

After letting out a deep sigh, Iris focused on that Rune on her right hand. It glowed brightly for a moment and then a screen appeared before her eyes.
